BUENOS AIRES, Argentina – King University women's wrestling assistant coach and alum Julia Salata won goal at the Senior Pan American Championships over the weekend. Tornado alum, Sarah Hildebrandt, also won gold, helping Team USA win the team title.

Salata won gold at 65 kilograms with a pair of technical fall victories while Hildebrandt won gold at 53 kilograms with three victories. For Hildebrandt, the title was her second straight and fourth overall.

Salata will now compete at the U.S. Senior National this weekend in Las Vegas, Nev. The winner of the U.S. Open qualifies for the Final X later this summer. The winners of the Final X at each weight class make up the 2019 World Team. Hildebrandt has already qualified for the Final X.

Five current Tornado, Allison Petix, Makayla Welch, Alyssa Aceval, Nicole Joseph and Ashlynn Ortega, will also be competing at the U.S. Senior Nationals. The top five at the U.S. Senior Nationals qualify for the Senior World Team Trials Challenge Tournament. The winner of that qualifies for the Final X.
