King ranked fourth heading into WCWA National Championships

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Leading up to the Women's Collegiate Wrestling Association (WCWA) National Championships, the King University women's wrestling team is ranked fourth. The Tornado have nine individuals ranked, led by Nicole Joseph who is ranked first.

The Tornado are tied for fourth in the poll with Simon Frasier University as each school received 76 points. Menlo University tops the poll with 108 points while McKendree University is second at 92 points and Wayland Baptist University checks in a third with 86 points. The nine Tornado wrestlers ranked is the fourth most, behind McKendree's 14, Menlo's 12 and Simon Frasier's 10.

Joseph enters the WCWA National Championships ranked first at 136 pounds. She is 16-0 on the season with nine pins and three wins by technical fall. Joseph was an All-American in 2018, finishing fourth at 136 pounds.

At 101 pounds, Jaclyn McNichols is ranked eighth with a 20-11 record that includes four pins and 11 technical falls. Makayla Welch enters the WCWA National championships ranked third at 116 pounds. She owns a 16-6 record, earning eight pins and seven technical falls.

The Tornado have a pair of wrestlers ranked at 123 pounds, led Cheyenne Sisenstein who is 23-3 on the season, taking seven wins by pin and 11 by technical fall and enters the weekend ranked fourth. Briana Kellin is ranked sixth as she owns a 16-3 mark, winning nine matches by pin and three by technical fall.

At 130 pounds, Alyssa Aceval and Allison Petix are both ranked for the Tornado. Aceval is ranked fifth while Petix checks in at seventh. Aceval is 19-8 on the season with nine pins and four technical falls while Petix is 3-5 with one pin and two technical fall victories.

The King tandem of Ashlynn Ortega and Ana Luciano are ranked at 143 pounds. Ortega owns an impressive record of 17-1 with one pin and eight technical falls while Luciano is 23-4 with five pins and 12 technical falls. Entering the WCWA National Championships, Ortega is ranked second and Luciano is ranked fourth.

The WCWA National Championships are scheduled to take place in Atlanta, Ga. on Friday and Saturday.
