HOLLINS, Va. – The King University women's tennis team came away with a pair of wins on Saturday at the Hollins Invitational. The Tornado topped Hollins College 4-1 and Salem College 4-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED – HOLLINS

  • The Tornado started with a doubles win from Isla Bell and Murphy Harr at the top flight.
  • The duo defeated Alexis Morring and Leandra Cameron 8-0.
  • In singles play, Marilyn Roustand defeated Jessica Willebeek-Le 6-2, 6-4 at the top flight.
  • Lauren Smorgonsky won her No. 2 singles match 6-0, 6-2 over Kateri Johnson.
  • The Tornado earned a win by forfeit and No. 3 singles and Hollins took a win by forfeit at No. 2 doubles to make the final score 4-1 in favor of the Tornado.

HOW IT HAPPENED – SALEM

  • Bell and Harr again earned a win in doubles, defeating Lauren Holman and Grace Wilson 9-8 (10-4).
  • King again forfeited at the second flight.
  • Roustand started with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Makenna Mason at No. 1 singles while Smorgonsky defeated Lily Farr 6-1, 6-2 at the second flight.
  • Anna Mincey capped the 4-1 win with a 6-2, 6-0 win over Haley Gilley at No. 3 singles.

  • King is in action again on October 23 at Mars Hill University. The dual is scheduled to start at 3:00 p.m.
