King falls to league-leading Mount Olive

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's soccer team fell to Conference Carolinas-leading University of Mount Olive on Saturday afternoon at Parks Field. The Tornado fell behind early, and couldn't mount a comeback against a tough Trojan defense as Mount Olive took the game 5-1.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Jasmine Pinter put Mount Olive ahead in the third minute when she found the back of the net.
  • Erin Foster then came up with a pair of saves for the Tornado before Mount Olive struck again in the 26th minute as Jaelyn Brown took a pass from Sara Berglund and put her shot in the goal.
  • Tyler Feaster answered for the Tornado with a goal in the 27th minute, pulling King within 2-1.
  • However, Mount Olive countered and placed three shots on goal before Cami Pereira stretched the Trojan lead to 3-1 with a goal in the 41st minute.
  • Mount Olive started the second half on the attack again, but Celia Patterson came up with three saves in the opening 10 minutes to keep the Tornado within striking distance.
  • King had a pair of scoring chances in the 71st and 74th minutes on shots from Erin Peters and Feaster. However, both were turned away by the Trojan goalkeeper, Nicole Solicito.
  • Mount Olive added goals from Shaunalee Govia and Pereira in the 81st and 83rd minutes, respectively.
  • Meghan O'Ferral beat the goalkeeper in the 83rd minute, but her shot went off the crossbar as the Trojans took the contest 5-1.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE

  • King took eight shots in the contest, placing four on frame.
  • Feaster scored her second goal of the season.
  • Foster and Patterson each made seven saves.

FOR THE FOES

  • Taylor Lewis earned the win in goal and Solicito made three saves in the second half.

  • King returns home on Wednesday to face rival Lees-McRae College. Kickoff is scheduled for 1:00 p.m.
