King finishes 9th in spring debut

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. – The King University women's golf team opened the spring with a ninth place finish at the Spring Kickoff Intercollegiate. Sasha Gardiner led the way with an 11th place finish.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • Gardiner shot 82 in the opening round and improved to shoot 77 in the second round for a total of 159.
  • Riley Grunewald was next for the Tornado with a total of 166. She shot 85 in the opening round and followed that with a round of 81 on Tuesday.
  • Morgan Powers opened with a round of 86 before shooting 92 in the second round for a total of 178.
  • Rounding out the team was Grace Gillen who posted a tournament total of 179. She carded a 90 in the opening round and followed with an 89 in the final round.

FOR THE FOES

  • Wingate University won the team title with a score of 613 while Saint Leo University finished second at 615.
  • Warissa Puancharoen of Wingate was the individual medalist with a tournament total of 149.
