BRISTOL, Tenn. – Following her spectacular senior season, Kay Brokering of the King University softball team added another award to her collection. She was selected second team Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) All-Southeast Region.

Brokering was selected second team All-Conference Carolinas earlier this spring, and she earns all-region honors for the first time in her career. She becomes the third player of the last two years to garner D2CCA All-Region honors and fourth in program history.

The Shelbyville, Ind., native led Conference Carolinas for the second straight in runs batted in. The year she drove in 51 runs, breaking her own record that she set a season ago. Those 51 runs batted in also ranked sixth in the southeast region

Brokering led Conference Carolinas with 61 hits, which also ranked sixth in the southeast region. She also ripped 12 doubles and three triples, ranking her fourth in the league while her 11 home runs were second in the conference. Her 112 total bases led the league, and she was second in the conference with 24 walks.

She ended her season with a .389 batting average, ranking her fifth in Conference Carolinas while ranking second in on base percentage at .489 and third with a .713 slugging percentage. Brokering also scored 36 runs, ranking third in the conference. She led the Tornado with 18 multiple-hit games and 15 multiple-RBI games, including two with more than five runs batted in.

On March 2, she broke the school record with seven runs batted in, ripping two home runs against Lynn University. She later drove in six runs in a win over Mars Hill University. She is believed to be the first Tornado in program history to hit for the cycle, doing so on March 30 at Emmanuel College where she went 4-for-5 with four runs batted in.

She was one of three Conference Carolinas softball players to earn all-region honors as she was joined on the second team by Lydia Clanton of Southern Wesleyan University and Kara Cunningham of Lees-McRae College.
