BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Conference Carolinas Softball Championship gets started on Friday, and the league announced the academic all-conference performers on Tuesday. The King University softball team had nine players recognized by the league.
Bailey Deason and Hanna Adams led the way for the Tornado with GPAs of 3.89 and 3.85, respectively. Leslie Odom and Becca Gold have GPAs of 3.75 and 3.70 while Emma Hughes owns a 3.59 GPA. Katelyn Davidson has a GPA of 3.55 and Kaycee Casteel owns a 3.53 GPA. Katie McCann and Jenna Burnett were also selected academic all-conference with GPAs of 3.47 and 3.38, respectively.
On the diamond, Burnett has hit .354 this year with four home runs and 11 doubles while Davidson has ripped six home runs and seven doubles. Casteel ranks fourth on the team with a .294 batting average and has scored 26 runs. Gold has appeared in 26 games, and Deason has made 18 appearances on the season. Adams owns a .274 batting average and has scored 15 runs. In the circle, Hughes has posted a 3.38 ERA and 6-5 record.
Conference Carolinas academic all-conference teams are comprised of junior and senior student-athletes who have competed in a conference-sponsored sport and maintained a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 or higher on a 4.0 scale in all work completed at their member institution.
