ITA All-Academic Teams and Scholar-Athletes

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's and women's tennis teams both earned Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team awards when the league announced their selections earlier this summer. Seven men and three women also were named ITA Scholar-Athletes.

King last had seven men and two women earn the distinction in 2017 while both teams earn all-academic status that year.

This year, the men had a 3.82 GPA, which led all Tornado teams. The men that garnered scholar-athlete honors were Arturo Alfaro, Alejandro Feliciano, Charles Jabaley, Sebastian Lieflaender, Lennard Neumann, Jorge Rojas, and Nathan Snow.

On the women's side, Isla Bell, Morgan Buchanan, and Marilyn Roustand all earned scholar-athlete honors, helping King to the all-academic team award.

The ITA All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program that has a cumulative team grade point average of 3.20 or above (on a 4.00 scale). All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year (including fall 2018 and spring 2019).

In order to earn ITA Scholar-Athlete status a player must meet the following criteria: 1.) be a varsity letter winner, 2.) have a grade point average of at least 3.50 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year, and 3.) have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters (including freshman through senior year).
