BRISTOL, Tenn. – Conference Carolinas announced their all-conference selections on Monday and three King University men's soccer players were recognized. Ben Delisle garnered first team honors, Adonis Wheeler earned second team recognition and Carlos Saavedra was selected to the third team.
Delisle earns All-Conference Carolinas honors for the first time after leading the league in goals. Delisle netted 13 goals, including nine in conference play to lead the conference following the regular season. He also handed out three assists and led the league with 29 points. The junior posted three games this season with two goals. He scored twice on penalty kicks in a win over Tusculum University, added a pair of goals at North Greenville University and two in a win at Southern Wesleyan University.
The Montreal, Quebec, Canada native led King with three game-winning goals, including the game-winners in back-to-back games against the University of Mount Olive and Lees-McRae College. Delisle led the league, going 4-for-4 on penalty kick opportunities and ranked second with three game-winning goals. Delisle was also selected Conference Carolinas Player of the Week twice throughout the season.
Wheeler garners all-conference honors for the second straight season with the second team selection. The senior has been a stalwart in the back of the Tornado defense since the day he stepped on campus, starting 60 of his 64 career games played. This season he started all but one game in the Tornado defense.
Saavedra earns third team honors a season after garnering first team All-Conference Carolinas accolades. This season, the Chicureo, Chile native ranked sixth in the league in with six goals and 15 points. Along with his six goals, the senior handed out three assists on the season. He scored the first two goals and added an assist in a win at Southern Wesleyan. He followed that with a goal and an assist in a 2-1 win at Mount Olive and tallied the first goal in a 2-1 win over Lees-McRae.
