BRISTOL, Tenn. – Two King University athletes were honored by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) follow great months of October. Ben Delisle of the men's soccer team was selected ECAC Offensive Player of the Month while Kirstin Barton of the women's cross country team garnered ECAC Runner of the Month honors.
Delisle was named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week twice in October, on October 22 and October 29. In the month he posted two multi-goal games and scored nine goals, leading the Tornado to three Conference Carolinas wins. The Montreal, Quebec, Canada native tallied the game-winning goal in a 2-1 come-from-behind win over the University of Mount Olive, and he assisted on the first goal of the game. Delisle followed that with another game-winning goal in the 67th minute as the Tornado defeated Lees-McRae College. He scored in every game but one in the month.
Barton earned first team All-Conference Carolinas honors for the second straight year, finishing runner-up at the conference championships in a season-best 6k time of 23:12.0. She helped the Tornado win their first Conference Carolinas title since 2014 and their fourth Conference Carolinas title in program history. The San Antonio, Texas native also posted her fastest 5k time of the year, 19:17.2 at the Royals XC Challenge.
