Three Tornado selected for Conference Carolinas Elite 23 Awards

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Conference Carolinas announced their spring Elite 23 Award winners on Thursday, and three Tornado were recognized. Mason McCrury (men's volleyball), Sebastian Lieflaender (men's tennis) and Trader Flora (baseball) all won awards for their respective sports.

McCrury carries a GPA of 4.0 while majoring in Human Biology and Spanish. On the court this year, the junior from Cedar Park, Texas appeared in 27 sets, 10 matches. In that time he recorded five digs and two assists.

Lieflaender, a junior from Wegberg, Germany carries a 4.0 GPA while majoring in Management and Economics. On the court this season, Lielfaender posted a 6-5 doubles record while going 2-9 in singles matches.

Flora carries a 4.0 GPA while majoring in Exercise Science with a focus on Kinesiology. The senior from Hampstead, N.C., appeared in 12 games, making five starts. In that time he ripped a home run and a double while driving in two and scoring twice.

The Elite 23 Award honors Conference Carolinas student-athletes with the highest cumulative grade-point average at their respective championship site. The award is modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 Award and it allows all student-athletes at the final championship site to win the award. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Conference Carolinas awarded the spring Elite 23 Awards to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average in each spring sport.
