Sokol runs to NCCAA Student-Athlete of the Week nod
GREENVILLE, S.C. - King College's Kendra Sokol was awarded the NCCAA Women's Cross Country Student-Athlete of the Week honor, the national office announced.
Sokol, a freshman from Kingsport, Tenn., paced King at the 2010 NCAA Division II National Cross Country Championship with a time of 23 minutes and 38.1 seconds on a snowy and soft 6,000-meter course. Her time placed her 107th in the field of 187 national runners at King's first NCAA Division II National Championship event in the instituion's first season as a NCAA Division II member.
She is the second Lady Tornado to win the NCCAA weekly honor joining Carrie Nelson (Independence, Va.), the winner from two weeks ago.
