King takes five titles at the Tornado Open

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University women's wrestling team hosted the Tornado Open on Sunday and five Tornado came away with five titles and four took home runner-up finishes.


  • Regina Doi won both of her matches at 101 pounds, both by 10-0 technical fall. She defeated Holly Bailor of Adrian College and teammate Cassidy Ferrell.
  • Before falling to Doi, Ferrell defeated Bailor on an 11-0 technical fall.
  • At 116 pounds, Aleeah Gould went 3-0 to take the title. She pinned Nassau Community College's Carolyn Herrera in 34 seconds before topping Ferrum College's Kristin Perry on a 10-0 technical fall.
  • In the finals, Gould pinned Kristen Walsh of Nassau in 5:13.
  • Briana Kellin pinned Fayth Woodward of Emmanuel College in 1:06. However, she fell to fifth-ranked Abigail Nette of Emmanuel in the finals at 123 pounds.
  • At 130 pounds, Allison Petix went 3-0 on the day, starting with a 13-2 technical fall over Allison Davis. She followed that with a pair of technical falls wins, 11-0 over Alexandria Espinoza of Emmanuel and 13-2 over Charline Hagemaster of Emmanuel.
  • Nicole Joseph pinned Emmanuel's Jazlyn Jackson in 36 seconds to start the day, before taking an 11-0 technical fall over Marizza Birrueta of Emmanuel.
  • In the finals, Joseph defeated Astrid Silva 6-1.
  • Leilani Vital started the day at 143 pounds with a 5-1 decision over Passion Hollins of Emmanuel. Following a loss she pinned Anissa Martin of Emmanuel to take second.
  • Keely Sage also took second, splitting a pair of matches at 170 pounds. She pinned teammate Denise Perez in 2:18 and fell to Emmanuel's Hanna Gladden.
  • At 191 pounds, Victoria Espinoza took three wins by pin and one by technical fall. She pinned Leya Deickman of Ferrum College in 1:22 to start the day and followed it with a 1:37 pin of Emmanuel's Kayla Wade.
  • Following a 1:15 pin of Adrian's Haylee McCoy, Espinoza earned a 10-0 technical fall over Morganne Flinkstrom of Ferrum to take the title.
