King Defends No. 2 Ranking at Cumberland Duals, Finish 3-1
WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. -- No. 1 Alli Ragan led the King College women's wrestling team to a 3-1 team mark at the Cumberland Duals on Saturday. Ragan went undefeated in four bouts while the Tornado sent multiple top-ranked competitors home with defeats.
King defeated both the Cumberlands 'A' and 'B' teams by a combined score of 75-17. They shut out the Patriots' secondary team, 45-0 and defeated their 'A' team, 30-17. Samantha Klingel (116#) defeated No. 1 Gabby Henry with a second period pin.
The Tornado disposed of Waldorf College, 40-1, before suffering only their second defeat of the season. King fell to Oklahoma City University, but did give the Stars a run with multiple defeats of some quality opponents.
Julie Salata (155#) avenged a loss to Brittany Roberts, who is currently ranked No. 2 at 170 pounds, winning by decision 1-0 and 2-0. Ragan (136#) upheld her No. 1 ranking by defeating No. 2 Jennifer Page.
King improves to 17-2 overall on the season with both losses coming from OCU. The Stars are the only program to defeat the Tornado over the last two seasons.
