Lady Tornado at No. 8 in NCCAA Burbridge

GREENVILLE, S.C. - King College fell outside the Top-5 in this week's NCCAA Women's Volleyball Burbridge Report and the Lady Tornado share No. 8, the national office announced.

A 1-1 week not only sent King's record to 10-2, but the Burbridge went from 6.00 to 5.67. The Lady Tornado was defeated by Tusculum (Tenn.) College 3-2 and beat Virginia Intermont College 3-1.

King shares the No. 8 spot with Geneva (Pa.) College who owns a 13-2 record.

Once again Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio) University has the No. 1 spot with a Burbridge of 6.86 ahead of No. 2 Malone (Ohio) Univeristy. Trinity Christian (Ill.) College jumped up to No. 3 from No. 5 with a rating of 6.11. Campbellsville (Ky.) University held onto No. 4 as the rating was 6.08 while Palm Beach Atlantic (Fla.) University was knocked from No. 3 to No. 5 after a rating of 5.92.

Asbury (Ky.) University went from outside the Top-10 to No. 6 thanks to a rating of 5.77 with Roberts Wesleyan (N.Y.) once again at No. 7 and a rating of 5.74. Behind King and Geneva to round out the Top-10 was Spring Arbor (Mich.) University, a newcomer to the Top-10.

Southern Wesleyan (S.C.) University and Trinity International (Ill.) University were both knocked from the Top-10.

King, Asbury and Campbellsville represented the Mid-East region in the Top-10. Bluefield (Va.) College was the next from the region in the rankings, at No. 28.

The Lady Tornado joins a group of six teams that have a winning percentage of 80.0% or better so far in 2010 as King's winning percentage stands at 83.3 in the report. Malone's winning percentage of 95.0 leads all NCCAA members.

King improved to 11-2 with a 3-1 win at Milligan (Tenn.) College Tuesday. Next on the schedule for the Lady Tornado will be the East Stroudsburg State Farm Volleyball Classic this weekend.
