Spano and Morgan winners for King at No. 4 Newberry
NEWBERRY, S.C. - The King College men's wrestling team was defeated at No. 4 Newberry (S.C.) College 32-6 Friday, but a King duo kept winning streaks alive.
King got points from Patrick Spano (Tampa, Fla.) and Frank Morgan (Maynardville, Tenn.). Spano was a 8-2 winner over Blake Ridenour at 165-pounds while Morgan, at 197-pounds had a narrow 4-1 decision over Joe Grisko. For Spano it was his fifth straight win while Morgan has won 11 straight matches and 15 out of the last 16.
The Tornado's record went to 6-3-1 after Friday's match. Next for King will be the NCAA Division II Super Region II Tournament in Findlay, Ohio, on Feb. 25-26.
Newberry went to 17-3-1 on the season, but King scored the same amount of points as No. 6 UNC Pembroke did against Newberry.
