BELMONT, N.C. – Brittany Kinser had a day from three-point range and led the Lady Tornado with 12 points off the bench, helping spur an early second-half rally to bring King within six points of the host Belmont Abbey Crusaders. The rally gave the Navy and Scarlet an emotional uplift but did not provide enough of a boost to overcome the Abbeys. The Lady Tornado lost Tuesday night, 64-53, inside the Wheeler Center.

Kinser finished with a team-high 12 points in 20 minutes played off the bench. The Greeneville, Tenn. native took all six of her shots from long range, converting four of them. The junior contributed to the team's 53.3 percent three-point shooting percentage that was boasted against the Crusaders. King (1-12, 1-4) hit 8-of-15 threes led by Brittany Fields hitting 3-of-6 of her long-range shots.

Down 15 points at halftime, King generated a 16-2 run to begin the second half. After swapping baskets inside the first two minutes, Kinser and Fields combined for consecutive three pointers on their next three possessions to trim the lead to six. Belmont Abbey retaliated, scoring the next eight points and building a margin that King did not overcome. The Crusaders built as large a lead as 19 points just under the seven-minute mark before King ended the game on a 10-2 run to draw within 11 points before the final horn.

Thirty-one of the Lady Tornado's 53 came from its non-starters, led by Kinser's 12 points. Kelly Jackson (Lynchburg, Va.) scored 11 points on 5-of-6 shooting from the field with four rebounds. Allison Bosse (Knoxville, Tenn.) led the team with five rebounds. King committed 20 turnovers, 10 in each half, leading to 24 BAC points. The Lady Tornado were 52.4 percent in field goal shooting, as a team.

King will continue its stint on the road against the Coker Cobras on Jan. 14 with a 2:00 p.m. tipoff. They will return to the Student Center Complex on Jan. 16 against the Lees-McRae Bobcats.
