BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men's and women's cross country teams had a solid weekend at the Virginia Tech Alumni Invitational, resulting in a pair of Conference Carolinas Runner of the Week honors. Hannah Sanford and James Russell Ballowe both recorded personal records, leading them to the weekly honor.
In her second race of the season, and first 6k race, Sanford turned out a personal best by nearly 40 seconds when she finished in 23:50.09 at the meet that contained numerous NCAA Division I teams. The time was also the first time Sanford has broken the 24-minute mark at the 6k distance in her career.
On the men's side, Ballowe was as impressive, setting his 8k personal record by nearly 40 seconds as well. He covered the distance in 26:36.28, breaking the 27-minute threshold for the first time in his career.
Sanford and the women's team will be in action again on October 3 at the Upstate Invitational in Spartanburg, S.C. while the men will take to the course again on October 9 at the Royals Challenge at McAlpine Park in Charlotte, N.C.
