A total of 32 All-Region honors were handed out to the men's and women's Tornado track and field team, 16 to each side. Nineteen individuals helped reel in the honors for King with two different student-athletes earning three All-Region awards for their participation in their respective events. The men's team pulled in the most All-Region honors among any Southeast region team.
Earl Rahming (Nassau, Bahamas) tallied three All-Region honors in the 60-meters, 400-meters, and the 4x400 Relay. The sophomore excelled in the 400-meter event all season as he progressed toward reaching the National Qualifying mark in the event before falling just short of the required time while setting new personal records along the way (49.60). Lanneickia Brewton (Inman, S.C.) earned All-Region honors in the 200- and 400-meter dashes as well as the 4x400 relay.
Rickey Bell (Advance, N.C.) and Maegan Henry led the throwers with regional honors in both the shot put and weight throw, setting excellent individual benchmarks as the pair of freshmen head into the outdoor season on pace to compete among the top in the conference.
Danielle Alfano (Chattanooga, Tenn.) tallied All-Region honors in both the 800-meter event and the one-mile race. Alfano broke King's school record in the one mile four different times over the course of the indoor season, winning her first collegiate race in her final meet last week.
Shelbie Burchfield (Morristown, Tenn.) represented the jumpers with honors in both the high and long jump events.
After concluding the 2012 Indoor season, King will now prepare for its Outdoor season to start on March 16 at the Charlotte 49er Classic, hosted by the University of Charlotte.
