Tornado Swimmers Compete at Limestone
King's best performance came from Wayne Oliver (Bristol, Tenn.) with his second place finish in the 50-yard freestyle race, clocking in a time of 22.66. Oliver's time was less than a second off the pace of the winner Lance Maxwell of Limestone.
Other individual performances to highlight include freshman Sarah Hennies (Scholfield Barracks, Hawaii) who finished third in the women's 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.02). Greg Taylor (Bristol, Tenn.) and Daniel Pope (Red Bank, Tenn.) finished third and fourth respectively. Taylor registered a time of 1:06.99 and Pope finished the race five one-hundredths of a second behind him.
The Tornado women's 400-yard freestyle relay team (Kelsey Copeland, Sarah Hennies, Malorie McBride, Jade Schroeder) placed third with a total time of 1:02.03. On the men's side in the 400-yard freestyle relay the combination of Mason Edmonds, Taylor Horton, Alek Nochowicz and Wayne Oliver put together a third place finish with a time of 3:34.84.
King will host a dual meet against Milligan College on Oct. 4. The meet will be held at the Margaret H. St. John Pool, located at Virginia High School (Bristol, Va.).
