BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men’s soccer team closed the season on a hot streak, and a pair of seniors were honor when Conference Carolinas announced their all-conference performers. Faber Bickerstaffe and Ben Allan both garnered third team All-Conference Carolinas accolades.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Leading into the Conference Carolinas Tournament, the league announced their men’s and women’s academic all-conference honorees. Six Tornado from the men’s team were recognized and three from the women’s team.
WILSON, N.C. – The King University men’s soccer team capped their season with their third straight win, a come-from-behind victory at Barton College on Saturday. The Tornado got second half goals from Adonis Wheeler and Carlos Saavedra to lift King over Barton 2-1.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – In the final home game of the season, the King University men’s soccer team relied on a senior duo to defeat Carson-Newman University. Luis Calderon and Faber Bickerstaffe combined for the contest’s lone goal in the 57th minute, giving the Tornado the 1-0 victory.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – For the first time this season, the King University men’s soccer team has had a player recognized by the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC). Following his two goals and an assist last week, Carlos Saavedra was selected ECAC Offensive Player of the Week by the ECAC.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men’s soccer team took on Milligan College Wednesday afternoon in a nonconference matchup. The Tornado played fantastic as they posted a 7-0 victory over the visiting Buffalos. King posted their highest single game goal total in this one as the offense was dominate.
MOUNT OLIVE, N.C. – The King University men’s soccer team took another tough loss on the road on Saturday afternoon. The Tornado fell at the University of Mount Olive 3-0.
CENTRAL, S.C. – The King University men’s soccer team played a solid defensive contest at Southern Wesleyan, but the Warrior defense was just as stout. Neither offense could find the back of the net as the Conference Carolinas contest ended in a scoreless draw.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men’s soccer team squared off with Chowan University and the score was even at the half. However, the Hawks scored a pair of goals early in the second half. King scored late, but it wasn’t enough as Chowan took the game 2-1.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – For the third straight year, King University had both of their soccer teams recognized by the United Soccer Coaches (USC), formerly the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA), both earning the Team Academic Award for 2016-17. King was one of 195 schools that had both of their soccer teams receive the award. This marks the seventh straight year the King women have won the award and the third straight year for the men.
BELMONT, N.C. – The King University men’s soccer team traveled to Belmont Abbey College for a Conference Carolinas matchup. Faber Bickerstaffe scored in the second half for the Tornado, but three first half goals for Belmont Abbey were the difference as the Crusaders took the game 3-1.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King Men’s Soccer team hosted Emmanuel College on Saturday afternoon for a Conference Carolinas match up. The Tornado suffered another one goal loss as the Lions defeated them 2-1.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men’s soccer team played another tight match on Wednesday afternoon when they hosted Tusculum College at Parks Field. The Tornado trailed twice, but answered both times as the contest went to overtime with the teams knotted at 2-2. The game remained tied after the two extra sessions, ending the contest in a draw.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – In what has become an unfortunate theme early in the season, the King University men’s soccer team dropped another one goal game. The Tornado squared off with 21st ranked Limestone College, and the Saints tallied the games lone goal in the 45th minute, taking the 1-0 victory.
TIGERVILLE, S.C. – The King University men’s soccer team fell to North Greenville University in a Conference Carolinas matchup Saturday afternoon. The Tornado could not find the back of the net which resulted in a 1-0 loss to the Crusaders.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Following a tough loss on the road on Saturday, the King University men’s soccer team had a tough test as the played their first home game of the season. The Tornado jumped ahead of 17th-ranked Lees-McRae 2-0 in the first half, but the Bobcats came back. Lees-McRae used a pair of second half goals to take the contest 3-2.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Carlos Saavedra of the King University men’s soccer team had a breakout week for the Tornado, scoring four goals and adding an assist. Saavedra was rewarded for his efforts as he was named Tennessee Sports Writers Association (TSWA) Men’s Soccer Player of the Week.
DUE WEST, S.C. – Following their comeback win on Wednesday, the King University men’s soccer team was in another tight contest on Saturday when they opened Conference Carolinas play at Erskine College. Carlos Saavedra evened the tally late in the second half, forcing overtime, but the Flying Fleet scored late in the second extra session to take the game 4-3 in double overtime.
MARS HILL, N.C. – The King University men’s soccer team fell behind Mars Hill University early, but Carlos Saavedra led the Tornado back on Wednesday night. He got the Tornado on the board in the first half, and put King ahead in the 79th minute, giving King the 3-2 victory.
BARBOURVILLE, Ky. – The King University men’s soccer team stayed on the road to take on regional rival Lincoln Memorial University on Sunday, and Railsplitters grabbed the lead early. Lincoln Memorial tallied their first goal in the eighth minute before adding a pair late in the second half to take the contest 3-0.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Due to weather, the location of Sunday’s men’s soccer game between King University and Lincoln Memorial University has changed. The teams will now square off at Union College in Barbourville, Ky.
ATHENS, W.VA. – In their first game of the season, the King University men’s soccer team came away with their first win of the season, defeating Concord University 1-0. Lucas Lavender tallied King’s lone goal early in the second half and Jake Davis posted a shutout in goal.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Nearing the start of the 2017 season, King University Men’s Soccer Head Coach Richie Rose announced his first recruiting class. The class consists of seven Tornado that will take the pitch for the first-year head coach this fall.
BRISTOL, Tenn. - The King University men's soccer team qualified for the Conference Carolinas Tournament for the fourth straight year a season ago and new head coach Richie Rose looks to lead the Tornado back in 2017. King returns a solid group of returners that should mesh with a talented group of newcomers.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University Director of Athletics David Hicks announced on Thursday the Richie Rose will be the next head coach of the Tornado men’s soccer program. Rose brings nearly 20 years of coaching experience to King.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University soccer coaches Leah Presley and Gus Pederson will hosting a boys and girls soccer camp on the campus of King University June 26-30.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – King University Director of Athletics David Hicks announced on Monday that Head Men’s Soccer Coach Talon Stroud has resigned, citing personal reasons and family obligations. Stroud will remain in place at King through the end of the academic year.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The King University men’s soccer program will be hosting a Winter ID Camp coming up in February. The camp is scheduled for February 4, 2017 and will be hosted at Parks Field on the King University campus.
BRISTOL, Tenn. – Prior to the Conference Carolinas Men’s Soccer Championship semifinals, the league handed out their all-conference awards. Two players from King University were recognized as Eli Carrasco and Faber Bickerstaffe were named third team all-conference.
GAFFNEY, S.C. – The King University men’s soccer team took to the field at eighth-ranked Limestone College in the opening round of the Conference Carolinas Men’s Soccer Championship on Monday night. The second seeded Saints tallied an early goal and added another in the second half to take the contest from the seventh seeded Tornado 2-0.
