Preseason Poll Places King Eighth in Conference Carolinas
BRISTOL, Tenn. – The Conference Carolinas office released its men's soccer preseason rankings as voted by the coaches today. King College has been tabbed eighth in the conference for the program's inaugural season participating in Conference Carolinas.
The Tornado finished with six wins a season ago participating in the NCCAA and as a transition member of NCAA Division II. King defended home field well, finishing the year with a 4-5 mark at Parks Fields and an overall record of 6-12-1.
Returning to lead the Tornado both statistically as team tri-captain is senior forward, Tom Winspear (Yarm, England). He returns as the leader in goals (19), points (45) and assists (7). Sophomore forward Joe Mayer (Essex, England) was second on the team in goals with eight in 18 games played. Patrick Milfred (Dallas, Texas) is the only returning goalkeeper from 2010 having played in four games and made 18 saves.

Limestone College was voted atop the conference preseason rankings with six first place votes (94 points) followed by Lees McRae, holding four first place votes (87 points). King (45) finishes ahead of Barton (27), Mount Olive (18) and North Greenville (15) by a wide margin to round out the list.
The Tornado begin the regular season on the road against Lincoln Memorial on Sept. 7 at 4:00 pm in Harrogate, Tennessee. They open the conference slate and their home schedule against conference favorite Limestone on Sept. 10 at 4:00 pm at Parks Fields. The team will play three friendly matches with Tusculum (Aug. 27), Carson-Newman (Aug. 30) and at Flagler (Sept. 2) prior to the start of their season.
