King Finishes in Top Half of Field in Spring Season Opener

PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. – King College opened its spring season in Panama City Beach, Fla. this week, participating in the Outback Steakhouse Intercollegiate. In a top-heavy field, King held with the best the tournament had to offer, finishing fifth in the two-day event.

King finished with a two-day total of 605 (297-308) and came into the final day just five strokes off the pace for first. Though King made up one stroke with their second day play, the rest of the five-team pack continued their successes as well. The Tornado finished fifth overall, four strokes off the lead. Three teams held a tie for first place when Lincoln Memorial, Flagler and Carson-Newman all finished with 6-1 scorecards. Columbus State snuck one shot ahead of King to take fourth before the Tornado rounded out the pack. King separated itself by more than 15 strokes from the next nearest competitor.

Adrian Kibsey (Winnipeg, Manitoba) finished the 36-hole tournament in a tie for first place with a two-day score of 146 (69-77). He birdied the ensuing playoff hole but was best by the tournament winner with an eagle, settling for the runner-up title.
