Nate Moorman is currently in his seventh season as head wrestling coach of the men's wrestling team at King College. The Tornado had a very successful season in 2011-12 season that produced a 9-3 dual record, two NCAA DII All-Americans and four NCAA DII national qualifiers. During the 2011-2012 season the Tornado also earned their first NCAA national ranking as a team, with a ranking as high as 11^th nationally.

Since becoming the head wrestling coach at King College in 2006 following the program’s inaugural season, the Tornado has produced 32 NCAA DII and NAIA National Qualifiers and seven All-Americans. The program also produced two top-10 Academic All-American teams as well as several individuals earning All-Academic honors.

The program has transformed from a team that sported a 4-9 record in 2006-07 to a 9-3 record in 2011-12, with an overall dual meet record of 31-25 in that time. Under Moorman’s guidance, King produced three U.S.A. Greco Roman All-Americans at the University National Championships in 2009 as the Tornado began its upgrade from NAIA to NCAA Division II status. In just its first year as a NCAA institution (2010-11), Moorman housed two national qualifiers and posted a dual meet record of 8-3.

Prior to taking the reins at King, Moorman served as an assistant wrestling coach for two years at his alma mater, Carson-Newman College. While serving as an assistant for Hall of Fame Coach Don Elia, Moorman had the privilege to coach five NCAA Division II national qualifiers and three All-Americans. Coach Moorman also served as co-head coach alongside his brother, Jason, at the Overtime Freestyle Wrestling Club in Jefferson City, Tenn. Prior to Overtime, Coach Moorman served on the Wolfpack Freestyle Club Coaching staff in Knoxville, Tenn. Coach Moorman also served as the NAIA Chair of the Cultural Exchange committee from 2007-09.

As a competitor at Carson-Newman, Moorman was a NCAA National Qualifier. He was a four-year starter and three-year captain for the Eagles during his career from 1999-04. In and out of the NCAA national rankings, Moorman managed to finish his college career with record of 132-27 with 51 wins by technical fall. Moorman holds the C-N career record for most technical falls and most near fall points awarded in a single season. He also tied the season record for technical falls twice and tied the career record for the most team points earned in dual competitions.

Before Carson Newman, Moorman competed at Halls High School in Knoxville, Tenn. where he was multiple state championship medalist under Hall of Fame coach Chris Vandergriff and Tim Pittman.

Moorman holds a degree in history and secondary education, and gained a master's degree in education in 2006. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Moorman serves as an assistant athletic director, academic advisor, and instructor at the College. He currently resides in Bristol (TN) with his wife, Beth.
